Laura Dixon

October 13, 1934 — August 5, 2023

Farmington

Laura Dixon, of Farmington New Mexico, was united with her Savior on August 5th, 2023. She was born on October 13, 1934, the oldest girl out of the 11 children born to Paul and Lillian Templeton. Laura met her soul mate, Eugene Dixon, and they married in 1951. They were married 69 ½ years when Eugene passed away in December 2020.Laura was a proud mother of four children, a grandmother, a great grandmother, a great great grandmother, an aunt, a cousin, and a friend to many. She often spoke of how much she enjoyed having such a large family and having someone live with her or by her. We didn’t question her love for us, and we all knew that no matter what we did or how much we messed up, she would never think less of us. This legacy of love that followed her throughout her life permeated into her last days on earth when she was no longer able to verbalize. She tried to tell us she loved us, but when her words failed, we had the opportunity to tell her that her actions spoke much louder than
her words ever could. We didn’t need to hear, “I love you.” because she lived out her love for us. This is the legacy of Laura Dixon – She proved that love isn’t just a word – IT IS AN ACTION! Laura frequently used humor and could often be caught playing a joke on someone or embarrassing them terribly in public. Of course, these occasions were followed by laughter that caused tears to flow and stomach muscles to spasm. (If you know, you know.) Laura would give soft back rubs to the children until they fell asleep. She would also tell scary stories that terrified the kids but had them begging for more. Laura joked that the kids would remember the stories and ask for a repeat, but she couldn’t remember because she was making it up as she went.
Laura loved playing Skip-Bo, going to garage sales, gambling at the casinos, eating McDonalds green chile double cheeseburgers, drinking Dr. Pepper, devouring fire hot green chile, and spending time with her family. Laura is preceded in death by her mother and father; her brothers Richard, Floyd, Paul, & Buzzy; her sisters Fay, Marie, Mae, and her son-n-law Steven Chavez. She is survived by her brothers Jo Bob and Charles Templeton and her sister Dolly Lavan. She is also survived by: Her daughter Gloria Chavez and Norman Harmon, and grandkids, Jennifer and Buddy Johns, Joleen and Paul Vigil, and Clayton and Candy DeWees; her daughter Donna Peace, and grandkids Leslie Lunsford and Les Lunsford; her son Garry and Lilly Dixon and grandkids Robin and Pete Lenhardt, and Deborah and Sean Farmer; and her son Eric and Michelle Dixon and grandkids Eric and Kelsie Dixon, Garry and Chelsie Dixon, Dexter Dixon, Elijah Dixon, and Joseph Dixon.
Laura was blessed with many great grandkids: Justin Johns, Lauren Johns, Christoval and Daniela Martinez, Elizabeth Vigil, Paul Vigil, Shania Smith, Ethan DeWees, Taylor Lunsford, Lacie Lunsford, Tyler Lunsford, Cameron Lunsford, Petey Lunsford, Tyler Blaylock, Peter Lenhardt, Luke Lenhardt, Marlee Wood, Julius Dixon, Lilly Rudder, Sunni Pearl Dixon, Hayzlynn Thompson, Van

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30th, at Sagebrush Church, located at
1501 Sunrise Parkway in Farmington, NM. God saw she was getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So, He put His arms around her and whispered, “Come with me.” With tear-filled eyes we watched her suffering fade away. Although we loved her
deeply, we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating; hard-working hands put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
