Lawrence "Larry" Lobato, 79, of Modesto, California passed away on April 4, 2026. He was born on July 29, 1946, in Allison, Colorado to Bertha and Alfonso Valencia.
Larry was born in Colorado and raised in New Mexico as a farmer and devout Catholic. As a young adult he was drafted to serve our country in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to New Mexico to work on his family farm. He then moved to California in his Camaro, where he started his lifelong career as a carpenter and met the love of his life Beverly Casey. He was a resident of California for over 50 years, where he built his family, home and career, all while still driving his Nantucket blue Camaro he purchased brand new in 1967. Larry and Bev raised four children and two grandchildren in the sanctuary of their home that has been filled with love, laughter and delicious food since the day it was custom built for their family.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Beverly Lobato, parents Bertha and Alfonso Valencia, brother Jose Valencia, sister Liova Valenica, maternal grandparents Eutimio Rivera and Maria Dolores Rivera, paternal grandparents Juan Pascal and Francisquita Valencia.
Larry is survived by his sons Danial Lobato, Thomas Lobato, and Jonathan Lobato, daughter Traci Lobato and daughter-in-law Kathryn Lobato, sister Rebecca Valencia, grandchildren Manual Lobato, Lorenzo Lobato, Casey Lobato, Wyatt Lobato.
A Rosary will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday April 24, 2026, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomfield, New Mexico. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM. Followed by burial at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to invite everyone to the reception held back at the St. Mary's Parish Hall in Bloomfield, New Mexico.
Pallbearers are Danial Lobato, Thomas Lobato, John Gentle, Jonathan Lobato, Manual Lobato, and Chris Ribera.
Honorary Pallbearers are Lorenzo Lobato, Casey Lobato, and Wyatt Lobato.
