Leatta Lyn
West
Jun 1, 1966 — Jun 22, 2026
Leatta Lyn West, 60, of Aztec, New Mexico, passed away on June 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and friends whose lives she touched throughout her journey.
Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lyn lived a life defined by kindness, creativity, strength, and devotion to those she loved. She spent much of her career managing convenience stores, where she became known for her hard work, dedication, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Beyond her work, she was an exceptionally talented artist who created beautiful wooden signs using a router tool, sharing her creativity and craftsmanship with friends, family, and her community.
Lyn found peace and joy in her garden, where she could often be found tending to flowers and plants she lovingly cared for. She enjoyed creating wood art, helping her son with special effects projects, sharing stories with friends, and spending time with those closest to her. She never met a stranger and had a gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and loved.
Those who knew Lyn will remember her as kind, caring, loving, creative, and selfless. She was the type of person who would drop everything to help someone in need. She gave freely of herself, whether through her time, her talents, or simply a listening ear. She believed in taking care of her people and never hesitated to show up when she was needed.
Lyn is survived by her father, Jim West; her mother, Pat West; her son, Ricky Rascon; her daughter-in-law, Tracy Jackson; her grandchildren, Sophia Cabrales and Tyson Rascon, her beloved dog, Gabby and her brother Larry West.
She is reunited in peace with her grandparents, her granddaughter, Blayne Rascon; and her son, Levi Slavin.
To her son Ricky, she was more than a mother. She was a best friend, a source of comfort, and the person he could call every day no matter what life brought. Her voice brought peace during difficult times, and her presence made the world feel a little lighter. She taught by example the value of hard work, the importance of keeping a close circle of true friends, and the strength found in choosing peace.
Though she endured pain and hardship, she faced each day with remarkable strength and very few complaints. She continued to show kindness, offer support, and share love with those around her. Her life was a reflection of resilience, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family.
If there were one final message to share with her, it would simply be this:
"I love you. Thank you for being such an incredible mother, grandmother, daughter and friend. Thank you for your strength, your guidance, and your unconditional love. You were the true meaning of family, and your presence made every day better. Your voice was comfort, your heart was home, and you will be missed more than words can ever express."
Lyn's memory will live on in the lives she touched, the lessons she taught, the love she gave, and the family she cherished. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will never be forgotten.
Celebration of life will be presented at a later date.
