Lisa Danette “Danette” Ferre Roundy March 11, 1960 – March 16, 2026
Lisa Danette “Danette” Ferre Roundy, 66, of Kirtland, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and love that will continue to wrap around her family like one of her handmade quilts.
Danette was born on March 11, 1960, in Farmington, New Mexico, to Jeannine Taylor Ferre and Carl Martin Ferre, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joel Roundy, who passed on August 22, 2022.
She is survived by her children: Jordan White and husband Payne White; Dillon Roundy and wife Emily Roundy; and Betsey Roundy. She also leaves behind her sisters, Robyn Woodard, and Michelle Densley, and her brother, Martin Ferre, along with many extended family members and friends who were lucky enough to be loved by her.
Danette lived a life full of purpose, creativity, and connection. Early in her career, she worked as an X-ray technician at the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City, caring for others with quiet strength and compassion. Later, she found her true creative home—teaching quilting classes at The Patchwork Pig and serving as the manager of the gift shop at San Juan Regional Medical Center. She had a special way of helping people feel seen, whether she was guiding a student through a quilt or helping someone find the perfect gift.
She had a deep love for quilting and the community that came with it. Danette enjoyed traveling to fabric shops, always on the lookout for “just one more” perfect print. Her students will forever remember her encouragement and her favorite saying: “Finished is better than perfect.”
Danette was funny, a little bit sarcastic in the best way, and deeply kind. Her humor was quick and perfectly timed, often delivered with a smile that made it clear how much she cared. She brought lightness to everyday moments and comfort to those around her. Truly, she was sunshine in human form.
Above all, Danette loved her family. Time spent with her children was her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into every moment with them.
A private burial for immediate family will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026.
