Lois Fielder

January 20, 1947 — March 18, 2023

Lois Darlene Fielder, 76, of Bloomfield, NM, died Friday, March 17, 2023, at the Welbrook Transitional Rehabilitation Center in Farmington, following a lengthy illness. Lois will be remember for her smile, kind heart, generosity, and unique, infectious laugh. Even with all her lifelong health issues, Lois was always happy, content with the life God gave her, and thankful for her friends, family, and fellow teachers who assisted with her transportation in her early teaching years.

Lois was born January 20, 1947, in Higgins, TX, to Charles Earl & Crystal Onita (Jones) Fielder. Her family lived in Arnett, Ok, until 1952 when her dad decided to move to New Mexico following the Lutz family, long time family friends, with the anticipation of a better job and brighter future. The family originally settled in the Kirtland area, where she started school and first exhibited her destiny, as she would teach her siblings what she had learned in school that day when she returned home. They later moved into the housing provided by EPNG Blanco plant, north of Bloomfield, where Lois enjoyed the "Brats" carefree life of many friends, family, and fun throughout her developmental years. Lois graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1965 where she was actively involved in Future Teachers of America and Pep Club. She went on to New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, where she graduated in 1972 with Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She made the decision to return to the Bloomfield are and start her career in teaching. Lois was an inspiration and loved by all her students in the kindergarten and first grade classes she taught, until her retirement in 1998. Throughout her years of teaching, Lois completed her Master's degree from northern Arizona University. Even after her retirement, Lois was drawn to every child she saw. She loved children!

Lois was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield, until her health forced her to move to assisted living in Aztec, where she continued to practice her faith at their in-house church.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents and a stillborn brother, Larry Keith. She is survived by her brother, Robert Fielder of Forest Grove, OR; two sisters, Gayle Phillips (Danny - deceased) of Bloomfield, NM, and Lynn Thornton (Terrell) of Albuquerque, NM; two nieces, Melanie Fielder of Forest Grove, OR and Michelle Galbreath ( Josh) of Banks, OR; one nephew, Nathan Thornton (Sarah) of Albuquerque, NM; great-nieces and-nephews, Seth Galbreath, Lydia Galbreath, Micah Galbreath, Deven Escalante (Thornton), and Paxton Thornton; special family friends, Perry Lutz and Vi Fielder, as well as numerous extended family members and beloved friends.
