Major Wallis Graham

December 23, 1941 — May 31, 2026

Major Wallis Graham, age 84 of Farmington, New Mexico passed away on Sunday May 31, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Major was born in Prescott, Arkansas on December 23, 1941, the son of Major T. and Mae Graham. He attended Brigham Young University, where he earned his bachelor's degree. He met his loving wife Sally while he was cruising Main with a friend. Sally, with her best friend, was sitting at the Dairy Queen and when Major spotted them, it happened that Sally's friend was Major's friend's girlfriend. Major invited them to come cruising with them. It happened and their wonderful life is the rest of the story.

Major started right out of college in the oilfield but spent most of his career working side by side with his brothers-in-law at Stradling Inc., which they owned and operated.

Outside of work, Major was passionate about many things. First and foremost, was his involvement in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served as a Bishop on three different occasions, as well as the Stake President for just under 10 years. He enjoyed sharing the message of Jesus Christ's love with anyone who would listen. He was also very involved in the Scouting program, and alongside Sally they were both presented Silver Beaver awards.

He was also an avid golfer, and an accomplished photographer. He had a talent for capturing the unique beauty of the Southwest. In his later years when his vision started to fail him, his son Todd encouraged him to take up song writing and use his life experiences to create beautiful music that his family will treasure always.

Major is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sally, his brother Arlis and his wife Shirley. Major is also survived by his sons, Tony (and his wife, J.L.); Gary (and his wife, Kaeylynn); Brett (and his wife, Heather); daughters, Holly (and her husband, Jim); Tara (and her husband, Kelly); Grandchildren; Tanner, Devin, Chase, Morgan, Elise, Taylor, Ray, Nicholas, Chloe, Kaylee (Eve), Jade, Cole, Brooklym, Dalin, Eliza, Sariah, Luke, Micah, Bronson, Grace, Glory, Ryleigh and Shaelynn.
