Obituary

Margaret Gaylene Christensen, a woman of grace, hard work, and enduring love, passed away on April 10, 2026, to join her Heavenly Father.

Born on January 2, 1937, in Williston, North Dakota, Margaret was the youngest of four children born to Fred and Edith Berger. Her roots were firmly planted in the North Dakota soil of the Muleshoe Ranch in Watford City. While her education took her to boarding schools in Killdeer and Dickinson, her heart remained on the ranch; she spent her summers cooking for cattle roundups and caring for the children of a local physician.

Margaret’s life was a beautiful testament to the power of second chances and true love. She first married Sidney D. Christensen in 1954, and they welcomed their daughter, Janet. Following a brief chapter where she was married to Donald D. Kiwimagi and welcomed her daughter, Dawne, Margaret eventually found her way back to her soulmate. She and Sidney remarried in 1961, remaining devoted to one another until his passing in 2024.

In her professional life, Margaret was a trailblazer in local banking. She began her career as a teller at the First National Bank of Farmington, where her sharp mind and natural leadership propelled her to the roles of supervisor and, eventually, branch manager for the Bloomfield, Kirtland, and Shiprock locations. When she wasn't leading her team, she was an adventurer who found joy in camping and traveling the country to stay connected with those she loved.

Margaret is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sidney; her parents, Fred and Edith Berger; her siblings, Marilyn Roth, Jean Hord, and Joe Berger; her daughter, Janet Hildreth; and her granddaughter, Erin Wolf.

Her memory is cherished by her daughter, Dawne, and husband Johnny Sandoval of Bloomfield; her grandchildren, Megan (Kevin) Rendahl, JJ (Amanda) Sandoval, Dacia (Matt) Wood, Bryan (Caitlyn) Sandoval, and Alicia (Josh) Ashton; and a legacy of many great-grandchildren who brought her immense pride.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at 2:00 PM on May 17, 2026, at Three Rivers Assisted Living in Farmington.
