Marian Gail Baker Stock

November 18, 1949 — October 20, 2024

Farmington, New Mexico

Marian Gail Baker Stock, born on November 18, 1949, in Selma, Alabama, to Albert Marion and Julia Inez Baker, lived a life filled with faith, love and adventure. A devoted lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gail graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Education from Brigham Young University in 1971. She began her teaching career in Deming, NM, where she laid the foundation for a life of service and dedication.

In 1972, Gail met the love of her life, David Lorin Stock. They were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Mesa Arizona Temple on May 30, 1972. After David’s graduation from NMSU, their journey took them to Bloomfield, NM, where Gail embraced the role of a “farmer’s wife”, supporting David in their agricultural endeavors and even mastering the art of driving an 18-wheel truck to load hay in the fields. After six rewarding years of farming, they returned to military life, with David serving as a career soldier. Together, they traveled the world, including six wonderful years in Germany, raising a large family while creating countless cherished memories.

Gail’s love for travel was matched only by her devotion to her family. After David’s retirement, they returned to the Four Corners Area, settling in Farmington. In 2011, Gail answered a spiritual call, serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Richmond, VA, where she met her final child, (J Marie) blessing her life by adult adoption and sealing to an eternal family. Gail inspired many with her unwavering faith, kindness and charitable spirit.

Gail was blessed with a large and loving family, including one son and six daughters, Julia M. Stock, Jared Stock (Angela), Jessica Marie Ferrer-Stock, Nancy Hragyil (Warren), Misha Stowell (Scott), Tonya Hendricks (Timothy), and Jessica Linn Kerby (Charlie). She also cherished her 14 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who adored her. Known for her warmth and generosity, Gail often said, “No empty seats at the table”, reflecting her commitment to family and community.

She passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024, suddenly and peacefully at home in the loving arms of her husband. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and is survived by her eternal companion David Lorin Stock, and her dear sister, Shirley Smith of Tomball, Texas, and all her children and grandchildren plus many beloved family and friends. Gail’s legacy of love and devotion will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew her.
