Mark Anthony Chavez, born on May 19th, 1956, in Albuquerque, NM, passed away February 26th, 2024. He was a beloved husband to Valerie, whom he married in 1976, and a devoted father to his two sons, Phillip Chavez and Jayson Cordova.
Mark dedicated over 30 years of his life to the oilfield industry before retiring. He was known for his strong will, quick wit, and compassionate heart. Mark had a passion for collecting swords, he delighted in sharing stories with those around him, and he loved strategizing, planning, supervising, and starting new projects (even if they remained unfinished).
He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by his two sons, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Mark is preceded in death by his cherished wife Valerie, his mother Virginia Chavez, father Tobias Chavez, and daughter in law Sharon Cordova.
In honoring Mark's memory, let us remember his spirit of determination, humor, and kindness that touched the lives of all who knew him.

He is survived by his sons Phillip (Jean-Elise) Chavez and Jayson Cordova; his grandchildren Marcus (Christina) Chavez, Mathew (Melissa) Chavez, Michael Chavez, Madison Chavez, Jacob Cordova, Sean (Norma) Cordova, and Christopher Cordova; great-grandchildren Athena Cordova, Leah Chavez, and Jenessa Cordova.
A celebration of Mark's life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 12-2pm at Timberline Church, 311 Ruins Road Aztec, NM.
