Mark Freeman

Mark Freeman 83, of Cedar Hill, NM went home with his beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 15, 2023. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to N.L. Freeman and Elva Freeman on May 14, 1940.

Mark lived for a short time in Houston, Texas before moving to Thermopolis, Wyoming where he worked as a Rancher. Mark decided to make his way to the last frontier in Sterling, Alaska where he owned one of the last homesteads. While there he was a bush pilot, test pilot and owned an air taxi service for 20 years. Mark also was also a missionary pilot for the Assembly of God. His love for the Lord was immensely important. Throughout his life Mark completed many amazing adventures outside of Alaska as well. Mark was a professional drummer for Universal Records and played with the Houston Symphony, he was a professional photographer, a western artist who happened to be inducted into the Cowboy Art Hall of Fame where he was recognized for his bronze sculptures and oil paintings. He was a master mechanic and machinist. Mark met his wife, Celeste in 1991 and they were married in Alaska. They moved to New Mexico where the two of them made San Juan County their permanent home. Mark was loved by many people and will be missed by all.

Mark is survived by his wife Celeste Freeman, his daughter Andrea Freeman as well as 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Family and friends will be holding a celebration of life on June 29, 2023, at the home of Ric and Cherry McCuller in Aztec, NM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark's honor can be sent to the Aztec Animal Shelter.
