Obituary Image

Marko Kecman of Farmington, NM passed away on Tuesday, December 26th from Alzheimer's.

Marko was born and raised in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the third child of immigrant parents, the first of his family born in America. Marko is survived by his two sons Karl Kecman of Durango, Colorado and Micah Kecman of Harrogate, England, and brothers Nick Kecman of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin and Mike Kecman of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

In 1977 Marko moved to Farmington, beginning a 35 year career with the Bureau of Reclamation and the Bureau of Land Management. He was an avid and well published photographer, a Scout Master for troop 328 in Aztec, and an outdoors enthusiast who loved the southwest.

Marko was a very active member of the Baha'i Faith declaring his belief in Baha'ullah in 1977. He served on the Local Spiritual Assemblies of Farmington and Aztec. His love for the Faith was profound and he enthusiastically shared the beliefs of the Faith with everyone he met.

"Baha''i' beliefs address such essential themes as the oneness of God and religion, the oneness of humanity and freedom from prejudice, the inherent nobility of the human being, the progressive revelation of religious truth, the development of spiritual qualities, the integration of worship and service, the fundamental equality of the sexes, the harmony between religion and science, the centrality of justice to all human endeavors, the importance of education, and the dynamics of the relationships that are to bind together individuals, communities, and  institutions as humanity advances towards its collective maturity."

Marko will be remembered in a graveside service on Friday, December 29th at 1:00 pm at Memory Gardens in Farmington. A reception will follow at Carol Holding's residence. In lieu of flowers contributions to the National Alzheimer's Foundation at alz.org would be appreciated.

O ye of men! The fundamental purpose animating the Faith of God and His Religion is to safeguard the interests and promote the unity of the human race, and to foster the spirit of love and fellowship amongst men . . . Whatsoever is raised on his foundation, the changes and chances of the world can never impair its strength, nor will the revolution of countless centuries undermine its structure.

- Baha''u'lla'h
