Marvin Preston Hines Jr. (“Junior”) (74) died July 15, 2025, in his home in Kirtland, NM after a 19-year battle with cancer. Junior was born January 7, 1951, in Texarkana, Arkansas, to his parents Era (Nee Taylor) and Marvin Hines. He attended school in Eunice, NM and a semester ENMU and later volunteered for military service. He was an army Sgt. In Vietnam. He met his wife Mary Brenda Hines (nee Aucoin) when stationed in Louisiana. When stationed in Germany, his daughter Yvette was born.
He worked in the petrochemical industry (Industrial Cleaning) for Haliburton. He enjoyed hunting with Brenda and his buddies and playing cards at the casino.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Evelyn Tillinghast of Dallas, TX, his Nephew Kelly Richmond and Niece Christi Greco.
Junior is survived by his wife, Mary his daughter and siblings Chrystal Kubas of Rio Rancho, NM and Beth Morgan of Silver star, MT, his son in law Eddy Boyd of Huston, TX, brother in laws Hal Morgan and Greg Kubus, and 16 nieces/nephews, 21 grandnieces/nephews and 14 great- grand nieces/nephews
A celebration of life will be held later this year. In lieu of flowers, the family asks people to donate to the American cancer society. The family would like to thank all the health care professionals who helped him in his valiant fight against seven cancers. They would especially like to thank Dr. Annette Fontaine of NMCC in Albuquerque and her staff.
