Marvin's great-great grandfather brought his family from Kentucky and settled in Richardson, TX in 1851. His father owned a truck farm business and as a young boy, he grew up working on the farm. Marvin had two siblings an older brother named John and younger sister named Elizabeth.
He attended Wilmer Hutchins High School in Dallas, TX. After graduating from high school, Marvin attended North Texas State College and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. He joined the Air Force in 1951 as an enlisted Airman and was commissioned as an officer in 1952. He spent the next four years on active duty as an Intercept Controller. Upon discharge in 1955, he went to work for General Motors Insurance for the next thirty years. He also served in the Air Force Reserves until 1961. Marvin married Janet Hart in December of 1959 in Odessa, TX. They had one son, Brian, born in 1961. The company moved his family to Santa Fe, NM in 1968 where they lived for the next thirteen years. Marvin enjoyed fishing and spending time outside camping with his family. He retired in Bella Vista, AR where he spent plenty of time on the golf course. He loved to work crossword puzzles and read Louis L 'Amour novels. Marvin moved to Farmington, NM in 2018 and spent the remainder of his years with his family. He will forever be remembered for great conversation over coffee and cookies.
Marvin is preceded in death by his wife Janet Huffhines, parents Chappell and Marvin Huffines, brother John Huffhines, grandparents John Franklin Huffhines and Mattie A. Carson.
Marvin is survived by his son Brian (Janice) Huffhines, sister Elizabeth Morris, grandchildren Daniel (Mallory) Huffhines, Matthew Huffhines, and Sarah Huffhines.
A Memorial service will take place on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Farmington, NM, at 10:30am, followed by Internment with Military Honors.
