Marvin Charles Platero

Marvin Charles Platero, 65, of Bloomfield, New Mexico passed from this life on the afternoon of September 6, 2025, in Farmington, New Mexico surrounded by his family. He was born on November 25, 1959, at Navajo Brethren of Christ Mission in Otis, New Mexico to his late mother Marie E. Martin Platero and Roger L. Platero.

Marvin was born of Native American descent of the Navajo Tribe, born into the Hooghan łání (Many Hogan) and born for the Ma'ii deeshgiizhinii (Coyote Pass Way) Clanship relation. Maternal grandparents are Esenapa and Robert Martin Sr. of Hogback, NM and paternal grandparents Evelyn and Roy Platero of Carson, NM.

Marvin was a passionate welder by trade providing services for many oilfield companies throughout the San Juan basin for many years. In his spare time Marvin enjoyed working on mechanical projects and pretty much anything he could get his hands on. Marvin had a passion for motorcycles and loved the open road. He found joy in fishing the San Juan River and always looked forward to a fish fry for supper.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie; his father, Rodger; his son, Myron Platero; his brothers, Kendrick Mahle, Duane Platero, Rafael Platero, and Ronald Platero; and his sisters, Evangeline Platero and Evalina Martinez.

He is survived by his children, Mitchell Platero, Erica Dobbs (Brad Dobbs), and Maychel Platero; his brother, Rodger Platero Jr. (Priscilla Platero); and his sister, Eulalia White (Kee White). His grandchildren are Shila Dobbs, Tristen Dobbs, Aaliyah Dobbs, Jayla Dobbs, Jaidyron and Keyshaun Platero, as well as his great-grandchildren, Santana and Elena.

He was a loving father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. He was a great teacher and taught us all how to fish. He truly instilled the love for fishing in all of us that will surely be passed down to keep his memory alive.

Celebration of life to be held September 20, 2025, at 11:00 am. located at Farmington Funeral Home in Farmington New Mexico.
