Matthew Nels Sorenson

Matthew Nels Sorenson left this world on February 17,2025 surrounded by his family. Matt was born to his parents David John and Bonnie Jean Sorenson on February 23,1963.

Matt is survived by his wife Tracie Sorenson, Son David Sorenson, Stepchildren Brandon (Lisa) Lobato, Jermey (April) Lobato, Sisters Kelly (David) Sorenson-Kross and Kris Sorenson-Grim and Grandchildren; Annabelle, Henry, James, Damein, Elisia, Dominic, as well as extended children that very lovingly called him Grandpa!

Matt loved hunting, fishing and his stories of travel and his wild experiences will be always remembered and held close to our hearts. Matt’s kindness: he showed it to everyone, it was admirable. He never met a stranger and helped so many people. He instilled in always tipping your bartender well. He embraced everyone with love and laughter and loved his grandchildren beyond measure. His dogs Max, Vegas and Sadie were always the highlight of his day. His smile, his laughter, his sense of humor and his sarcasm will forever be embedded in our hearts!

Matt was preceded in death by his mother Bonnie Jean Sorenson and Father David John Sorenson, as well as a long-time friend Mike Morley. He will forever be missed!

A service will be held Saturday, April 12th at 11:00 AM at the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints, 505 N Oliver Drive Aztec, New Mexico with a potluck dinner to follow.
