Michael Smouse

Beloved father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle & Friend. Michael Smouse, 69 passed suddenly & unexpectedly from this life at his home in Aztec, NM. He was born on December 30, 1952 in Farmington, NM to Claude T (Torchy) Smouse and Helen (Eaker) Cross. Mike graduated from BHS in 1971 then joined the US Air Force where he was stationed in the Philippines for part of his tour, then spent many years working in the oilfield until his retirement in 2020. Mike is preceded in death by both parents, stepdad Clay Cross and brother Patrick Cross. He is survived by his Daughter Rachel Gruette (Charlie) son Alex Smouse (Jocelyn), grandchildren, Mersadie and Jordan Gruette, Katelyn, Paloma, Raquel, Bianca, Noel, Delilah and Lucy. His dogs Lexi & Rico. Stepmom Neva Smouse, NM, Brothers and Sisters, Greg Smouse (Molly) Co. Fred Smouse (Kerry) Co. Marc Cross (Cathi) Tx., Ron Baca (Reida) NM, Tom Baca, NM. Terri Ramirez (Ramon) Co. Yvonne Rhoads (Jim) NM, Bev Johnson, NM, Neva Longacre (Bill) NM and Vanessa Bailey (Bill) NM, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mike loved spending time with his best friends (his dogs), riding his side by side, fishing, building models, woodworking, gardening and making jewelry. Mike was always willing to help his family and friends with whatever projects they had going, he was the funniest, craziest, kindest guy around. He will be greatly missed by so many. Celebration of Life will be on February 12, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the VFW post 2182 @ 5641 Bloomfield Hwy, Farmington, NM. Arrangements are under Farmington Funeral Home
