Michael Bruce Sullivan, of Bloomfield, NM, passed away on September 5, 2025 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was 72 years old.
Mike was born February 4, 1953 to Bruce and Dodi Sullivan. He grew up on the banks of the San Juan River, the second of five children. Teresa, Danny, Toni and Tami created many stories with him while helping farm the Sullivan Family Ranch. These memories slowly cultivated a passion for farming, rodeo and raising livestock. Mike attended Bloomfield Elementary and graduated from Bloomfield High school in 1971 as class president. Mike later attended college at New Mexico State University.
Eventually he returned to Bloomfield where he found a love for Five “F” words; family, farming, food, friends and fun. Family came when he was blessed with four children. Teaching each one at an early age to ride horses, raise pigs and other 4-H projects, farm pasture, garden and buck bales. He loved his beautiful farm, and the horses and cattle he raised on it. He also shared a love of fishing and hunting. His love for friends and the community led him to serve on many Boards and Two County Commission terms. Always shaking hands and listening to the concerns of the whole Community. He often did this while sipping a Sonic coke or eating a Blake’s Lota burger. He did not know a stranger. He was not only a strong advocate for agriculture in San Juan County, but he also was worked hard in various oil and gas jobs throughout his life in addition to farming. If he wasn’t having fun on his farm, he definitely found it when blessed with grandchildren. They were and are his greatest accomplishment. He loved driving miles and miles to watch a football game, soccer match, or basketball game. He was their biggest cheerleader.
He is survived by his four children; Shamra (Sheldon) Gosney, Chanci (Travis) Sullivan, Tanda (Brad) McConnel. and Michael Daly Sullivan. Grandchildren, Shay (Eli) Freese, Shylie Gosney, Shelcie Gosney, Denym Seabolt, Baylor Seabolt, Strater Foutz, Tinley Foutz, Oakley Foutz, and Cembree McConnel. Great grandchildren Lenyn and Lux Freese. He is preceded in death by his parents Bruce and Dodi Sullivan and his brother Danny Sullivan.
His family would like to thank his “extended family” at Crane’s Roost in Aztec for their love and patience. His life was extended because they cared. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you honor Mike’s memory through a charitable act of your own.
