Nathaniel Jose Maria Shelby was born on January 31st, 1977, to Keith and Susie Shelby in White River, AZ. He passed away on November 14th, 2023.
At the age of one, Nathaniel's family moved back to the Farmington area, where he attended school in Bloomfield, NM.
Nathaniel had a passion for many things in his life, but his greatest passion was his family. Although he never had kids of his own, Nathaniel helped raise Brandon, Coleman, and Shayly, and they were his pride and joy. As time went on and our families grew, he continued to lend a hand to many other great-nieces and nephews.
Nathaniel was the type of person you could count on at any time of day or night. Our favorite saying was, "Call Uncle Nate; he will do it." True to this, we would call, and Uncle Nate would always come to our rescue.
Nathaniel's passion for people really showed through his work at Church's Chicken. Because of his kindness and genuine personality, he developed friendships with many of his customers and fellow employees over the years, many of them becoming family to him.
Nathaniel is preceded in death by his dad, Keith Shelby, grandparents Ben and Nora Shelby, Jose Maria, and Lawrence Martinez, best friend Carol Montoya, and great-nephew Uriah Romero.
He is survived by his mom, Susie Park (Dave); stepmom, Elaine Shelby; sister, Tina Trujillo (Steve); and brother, Heath Shelby. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Brandon Mohon (Ashley), Coleman Mohon (Shannon), Shayly Brown (Adam), Stephanie Johnson (Dusty), Mariah Shelby, Tristan Shelby, Sheree & Mike Romero, Shamarie Montoya, Desiree Montoya, as well as great-nieces and nephews Amelia, Camille, Blair, Vonn Boston, Bryson, Alexis, Brayden, Presley, Aidan, Gunner, Andrea, Jaziah, Danielle, Zachariah, Raiah, D'Andre, Amorie (Shuggie), Karmela, and Great-Great-Niece Marilyn, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
A Rosary service will be held at 9:30 am, followed by a Funeral service at 10:00 am on December 7th, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Farmington, NM.
Any donation can be made to Farmington Funeral Home.
Rest in Peace "Uncle Nate"
