Navor “Buddy” Baldamar Tafoya, 86, of Farmington, New Mexico, passed away on March 12, 2026, in Farmington, New Mexico. Navor was born on July 12, 1939, in La Plata, New Mexico, to parents Lena (Romero) and Julio Tafoya.
Buddy was well known and loved by many. He served the community as a master barber for decades, having opened Main Barber Shop in 1963. As a true adventures man, his hobbies included hunting, fishing, and farming. He maintained a formidable backyard garden for all the years he was able. Earlier in life, he played football and boxed. He even earned the title of Golden Glove Boxer. He always loved watching sports. Buddy spent his life in service to God continually. At age 20, he served a 2.5-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Mexico. Here, he met his wife-to-be, Margaret Torres from Bayard, New Mexico. Buddy and Margaret were sealed for time and all eternity in the Mesa, Arizona temple in 1963. They raised 5 children together. Throughout his life, he served in many positions in the Church and most especially loved his time in the Spanish ward.
Buddy is survived by his Grandchildren Jade (Thrasher) Howard, Saige (Thrasher) Lopez, Sloan Tafoya, Soraya Tafoya, Ethan Roddy, Bodie Booth, and Kyle Booth, and Great Grandchildren Reece Howard, Oliver Howard, Luke Howard, Graham Howard, Mateo Lopez.
