Peggy Ann Johnson, 90, passed away September 1, 2025, in Farmington, NM. She was born to Raymond George “RG” Pierce and Helen Virginia Nelson Pierce on May 29, 1935, in Garber, Oklahoma. She grew up in oil country and met her high school sweetheart, Larry W. Johnson, in Canton, Kansas. They married October 23, 1955. Peggy accompanied Larry throughout his twenty-five years in the Navy, moving to various bases throughout the USA and participating in Navy Wives Clubs of America. The two retired in Farmington about 1980 where they later took ownership of Pierce Hydraulic Service. In later retirement, Peggy and Larry traveled extensively by RV, traversing the country from Alaska to New York and areas in between. Peggy honed her skills and became an accomplished stained-glass artist, an art she practiced well over 20 years.


Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, RG and Helen Pierce, sister Virginia R. Clay, brother Raymond L. “Bud” Pierce, brothers-in-law Jack E. Capps and Glenn E. Clay, and niece Mary Virginia “Ginger” Capps.

She is survived by her sister Betty Jo Capps; nieces and nephews Jack R. Capps (Janis), Donald R. Capps, Glenda Clay Bradshaw (Stan), Janice Clay Self (Mike), C. Suzanne Clay, and Stephen R. Clay (Debbie); and great-nieces and -nephews Brian Self (Tess), Todd Self (Bethany), Aleece Clay Hottell (John), Candy Clay Mosley (Ryan), Shelly Clay Nunn (Josh), and Lexy Clay Thompson (Trevor); and numerous great great nieces and nephews.

Peggy was cremated and her ashes will be interred with Larry at Sante Fe National Cemetery in Sante Fe, NM.
