In Loving Memory of Rachel Cecilia Wilson
February 5, 1936 - March 25, 2026
Rachel Wilson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished matriarch, was called home to be with our Lord on March 25, 2026, at the age of 90. Surrounded by the love of her family and the grace of her faith, she entered eternal rest, reunited with those who went before her.
Rachel was born on February 5, 1936, in Costilla, New Mexico, to Hipolito and Florinda Sanchez. She later made her home in Blanco, New Mexico, where she was raised and where her deep roots in family, faith, and community were firmly planted.
On April 14, 1956, she married, William “Bill” Wilson. Together they built a life centered on devotion, resilience, and unconditional love, raising a large and beautiful family. Rachel was the proud and loving mother of Juan Wilson (Toby), Flora Sandoval (Larry), Delores Wilson, Kathy Cooley (Shane), William “Rojo” Wilson Jr. (Gwen), Maria Quintana, Carla Wilson, and Alberta Aragon (Pat).
Her legacy lives on through her 7 surviving children, 32 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved deeply and prayed for daily. Rachel’s home was always open, her kitchen always full, and her laughter always present. She was known for her warm heart, strong spirit, and joyful personality that brought light to all who knew her.
In addition to her descendants, she is lovingly survived by her siblings, Narciso Sanchez (Marie), Roseanne Krelick (Paul), and Juan Sanchez (Viola), along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
A woman of deep Catholic faith, Rachel found strength in prayer and comfort in the teachings of the Church. She lived her life guided by love, humility, and service, embodying the virtues of a true matriarch. She was the heart of her family, the one who gathered everyone together, who offered wisdom in times of need, and who celebrated life’s blessings with joy and gratitude.
Rachel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Wilson; her parents, Hipolito and Florinda Sanchez; her daughter, Delores Wilson; her grandchildren, Lawrence Sandoval Jr., William Wilson IV, and Juan Wilson Jr.; and her siblings, Isabell Valdez, Timmie Atencio, Connie Rodriguez, Henry Sanchez, and Chris Sanchez.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of God, embraced in eternal life. Her love remains with us always, and her legacy will continue through the many generations she so beautifully nurtured.
“Well done, good and faithful servant…enter into the joy of your Lord.” – Matthew 25:23
A Holy Rosary will be recited on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
The Funeral Mass will immediately follow, with burial and reception thereafter.
