With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Richard Allen Bakkenson, beloved husband, father, and friend, who left this world peacefully on June 2, 2025, in Farmington, New Mexico. He was born in Los Angeles, California, on July 24, 1936. A proud graduate with a Bachelor's Degree, Richard dedicated much of his life to his work at Aerojet General, Lockheed, American Meters, and as a District Manager at Southwest Gas, where he made lasting contributions and built cherished relationships.

Richard was a remarkable individual, known for his professionalism, kindness, and unwavering support for those around him. He was a member of a few Gun Clubs, Fishing Club, and was the President of the Rotary Club in Tucson, AZ. He cherished his time with his beloved spouse, Elaine Bakkenson, with whom he shared countless memories filled with love and laughter. His legacy will live on through her, their family, and the many lives he has touched throughout his journey.

As we bid farewell to Richard, we encourage all who knew him to reflect on the profound impact he had on our lives. His kindness, strength, and dedication will remain a guiding light in our hearts. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Harold Robert Bakkenson, and his mother, Dorothy Candus Bakkenson. He is survived by his wife, Sybil Elaine Bakkenson; daughters Gretchen Ann Bakkenson and Heidi Elaine Bakkenson; grandchildren Dorothy Ann Bakkenson-Collins and Erich Kreiselmeier.
