Richard Allan Elsesser

Jul 10, 1959 — Jul 18, 2026

Farmington, New Mexico

Richard Elsesser, 67, of Farmington, New Mexico, passed away on July 18, 2026.

Richard was born on July 10, 1959, in Tiffin, Ohio, to John and Retha Elsesser, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his siblings: Carol (Alex) Martinez of Farmington, New Mexico; Pam (Stick) Elsesser of Alvada, Ohio; and John Elsesser Jr. of Farmington, New Mexico, along with many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who loved him dearly.

Richard was a one-of-a-kind man. He was stubborn but honest, whether people wanted to hear the truth or not. He was giving and generous, with a great sense of humor. Richard was a genius on so many levels. He was methodical in everything he did and possessed an incredible love of green spaces and all things growing. Richard had a true green thumb and took pride in having one of the most beautiful yards in town.

Throughout his life, Richard worked many jobs, but his greatest passion was motorcycles. He loved building them, restoring them, and helping others bring their own dreams to life. He was happiest with a wrench in his hand, solving problems that others couldn't.

Richard never went long without a dog by his side. They weren't just pets; they were his best friends. His faithful companion, Ajax, was his constant sidekick and will miss him dearly.

Richard was one of the few genuinely honest and giving people you could ever hope to meet. He would share important information with you, but just once. If you were listening, you'd learn something. If you weren't, he'd expect you to figure it out. He was also one of the best storytellers around. He always had another story to tell, another laugh to share, and another memory worth hearing.

More than anything, Richard will be remembered for the way he lived: with skill, generosity, humor, honesty, and a willingness to help those around him. His work lives on in the motorcycles he built, the gardens he grew, and the countless lives he touched.

To be Richard's friend was a privilege.

He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Visitation and Viewing will be held Monday July 27, 2026 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM at Farmington Funeral Home, 2111 W. Apache St. Farmington, New Mexico 87401. Graveside services will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave., Farmington, New Mexico 87401.
