We are saddened to announce the passing of Ronald Larry Blackford on August 31, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on December 3, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas, to Paul Haskel Blackford and Ellen Mary Stowe. Ron was raised in San Antonio and remained there until his early twenties.

Ron proudly served in the United States Navy Reserves for six years. At the age of 20, he married his first wife, and together they had two children, Terry and Bret. Throughout his early years, Ron worked various jobs before beginning his career with El Paso Natural Gas Company.

In October of 1975, Ron married Mary Basgal. Through their marriage, he gained another daughter, Pam. Ron and Mary shared 50 years of marriage and remained by each other's side until his passing.

Ron was a wonderful husband and a dear friend to many. He will be remembered for the relationships he built throughout his life and by the family and friends who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Haskel Blackford and Ellen Mary Stowe; his granddaughter; and his brother-in-law.

Ron leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Mary; daughter Terry Ostler (Layne); son Bret Blackford (Rosa); daughter Pam Voge; brother Richard Blackford (Donna); sister Sissy; and sister-in-law Jeannie Hansen.

He is also survived by his five grandsons, Layne Ostler Jr., Eric Ostler (Stephany), Chance McKee, Ayden Voge, and Wyatt Voge; one great-grandson, Brett Ostler; five great-granddaughters, Erika Ostler, Callie Jo Ostler, Lacey Ostler, Millie Ostler, and Presley Ostler; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ron's family is also awaiting the arrival of a great-great-grandson, due in December.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ron's honor to the San Juan Shrine Club in Farmington, New Mexico, or York Rite.
