In Loving Memory of Ronald “Pops” Wofford
April 12, 1941 – October 15, 2026
Ronald V. Wofford, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, lovingly known to his family as “Pops,” lived a life filled with hard work, adventure, and a love for the things that mattered most to him.
Born on April 12, 1941, in Wheeler, Texas, to Eunice Crafton Gillum and Alba Wofford, Pops lived 85 years filled with experiences, challenges, and memories that will forever be a part of our family’s story.
After high school, Pops answered the call to serve his country in the United States Navy. He served two tours during the Vietnam War, and we are proud of his service and grateful for the sacrifices he made for our country. His military service was an important chapter in his life, and we honor him for his dedication and commitment.
Pops was a hardworking man who learned the trade of mechanics from his own father. Throughout his life, he worked as a mechanic, welder, and sheet metal worker. He knew how to work with his hands, solve problems, and get the job done. His skills and work ethic were a big part of who he was.
But Pops wasn't all work. He had a love for adventure, too. He loved motorcycles, motorcycle racing, drag racing, and many forms of automobile racing. The excitement of engines, speed, and competition brought him great joy and became an important part of his life.
When he wasn't working or enjoying his passion for racing, Pops loved spending time outdoors. Fishing, boating, hunting, and camping were among his favorite activities. These were the things that brought him happiness and created memories that will continue to be cherished by those who knew him.
Our family has experienced its share of heartbreak and loss. Pops had already said goodbye to his grandparents, his parents, his sons Robert and Bill, his daughter-in-law Carla, and his granddaughter Brandy. Their absence left an ache in the family, and we remember them with love.
Pops leaves behind the two of us, his daughters, Ronnie and Sue, along with our husbands, Ivan and David, his 10 grandchildren, his 6 great-grandchildren, and extended family who will continue to cherish his memory.
Rest peacefully, Pops. You will be missed more than words can say, remembered always, and loved forever.
