Farmington

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Sam Julian Chapman on June 16, 2026, in Farmington, New Mexico.

He is survived by his wife, Diana Chapman, and his siblings, John L. Chapman Jr. and Bernadette Calamusa.

Sam was born February 8, 1964, in Carmichael, California. After graduating from Casa Roble High School in Orangevale, California, he apprenticed with several California sign companies. One highlight of his career was installing the signs, lighting, and banners for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. Sam later moved east, where he spent two years hiking the 14,000-foot peaks of Colorado. He established his own sign shop in Bayfield, Colorado and eventually moved to Farmington, New Mexico. Sam spent much of his career as a sign and lighting technician with San Juan Sign Company. Since his retirement, Sam and Diana have enjoyed travelling abroad and tending to their vines and wines of Amazing Spirits Vineyards and Winery. Sam will forever fill our hearts with his love, and we will forever remember him and his amazing spirit.

A celebration of Sam's life will be held from 2:00 to 4:30pm Sunday June 28, 2026, at Three Rivers Brewstillery Lounge 109 E Main St Farmington NM.
