Sandra "Sandy" Ann Evans, age 63, peacefully passed away on November 6, 2025, in Aztec, New Mexico, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cervical cancer. She was born in Smithville, Missouri, and spent most of her life in Hobbs, New Mexico, creating cherished memories with family, friends, and many people whose lives she touched.

Sandy worked as a barber and cosmetologist for 35 years, a career she genuinely loved. Her customers quickly became her friends, and many became like family. She had a unique gift for lifting others’ spirits, sharing laughter, and making everyone feel seen, loved, and valued.

Sandy was known for her true-blue heart and quick wit – loyal, generous, loving, and steadfast. She loved her family and friends deeply, with a love that was pure, unwavering, and given freely. Her laughter, warmth, and kindness will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters Jennifer Garcia, Sarah Anderson (Jeremiah Anderson), and Jessica Palmer (Nathan Palmer); her beloved partner, Kress Jones and family; grandchildren Alexys Garcia, Gabriel Garcia (Nadia Garcia), Cam Palmer, Ella Palmer, Misha Palmer, Matthew Thomason, Ava Thomason, Tripp Anderson; great-granddaughters, Emma Garcia and Natalie Garcia; stepmother Dixie Evans, sisters Kelly Bates (Sean Bates) and Sherri Lamar; brother David Evans; brother-in-law Michael Gilbert; and numerous nieces, great nieces and great nephews.

She was welcomed into Heaven by her mother, Bonnie Sue Powers, father Leon Franklin Evans, stepfather Robert “Bob” Powers, sister Karen Rosetta Gilbert, nephew Robert Allen May, and grandparents.

A celebration of life will be held in Hobbs, New Mexico, at the Chapel of Hope on December 12th at 1pm. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Sandy's life and the love she shared so freely.

Her legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will live on through her family and all who were fortunate to know her. Sandy’s soul is at peace, free from pain, and her true-blue heart will live on forever in the love she shared and the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply and dearly missed.
