Sarah June Bruner was a resident of Aztec, New Mexico. She passed away on May 23, 2025, in Aztec, New Mexico. Sarah was born on July 13, 1943, in Vernon, Texas to Tip and Alta Phillips. June was with us for 81 years.
Jerry, Sr. remembers her as his loving wife of 63 years and that she was a wonderful helpmate. She greatly loved and cared for her children Jerry, Jr. and Monica Leigh during their childhood and beyond.
June was schooled in North Harris County College where she earned her Associates Degree. She continued her education in Incarnate Word University in San Antonio Texas, earning a Bachelor’s Degree. Her Master’s Degree was obtained at Saint Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas.
June dedicated her career and adult years as a certified Counselor, specializing in family violence counseling and substance abuse counseling. She operated a business she called Mariposa Counseling in Aztec, New Mexico for a many years. June was primarily responsible for the establishment of Sarah’s House in Aztec which was a safe home for victims of family violence and their children. June served her community throughout San Juan County, New Mexico vy volunteer work and served as a board member for many Not-For-Profit organizations.
June was an accomplished artist. She produced many paintings and pencil drawings, of which copies and some originals are kept in a very thick portfolio to be treasured by her family. She also produced beautiful painted china and lithography. Her decorating skills were unmatched. She could turn a plain room or a landscape into a showcase --and she did.
Her husband and son say that there was nothing June could not accomplish. Her kindness, love and laughter will live on in our minds and hearts and she will be deeply missed in our world.
June gave purpose to her beautiful life and will be forever cherished. Her life’s journey fully expressed the essence of who she was and what she believed.
June is survived by her husband Jerry M. Bruner, Senior and her son Jerry M. Bruner, Junior.
She is preceded in death by her beloved daughter Monica Bruner Judge; her parents Tip and Alta Phillips; brothers Felix Phillips and Truman Phillips and sisters Mozelle Henegar and Billie Ruth Naylor.
A Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Farmington Funeral Home May 28, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
