Sidney Jay Knowlton, age 69, of Aztec, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025.
Sidney was born on November 29, 1955, to Marie and Eugene Knowlton, both of whom preceded him in death. He grew up in Aztec, New Mexico, where he spent most of his life surrounded by family, friends, and the land he loved.
Sidney had a quiet, easygoing spirit and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed driving around in his truck with his dog, Buster, spending time in his son’s shop, fishing at Quality Waters, and relaxing on the pontoon boat. He also took pride in fixing up old trucks, working with his hands, and being outdoors, especially in the later years of his life. One of his final wishes was to simply go outside and breathe the fresh air.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Eugene Knowlton, and his sisters Jeana Braun and Cindy Mickey.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Knowlton, and his children: Shad Knowlton, Evan Knowlton, Chris Knowlton, and Amanda Salazar; as well as his stepchildren: Michelle Putman and Mirinda Manus. Sidney also leaves behind his sister Ellen Warner, his brother Ronnie Knowlton, and his beloved grandchildren: Isaac Salazar, Maxx Knowlton, Braxton Salazar, Zayden Salazar, and Mateo Salazar. He will be remembered fondly by his extended family and many friends.
Sidney will be remembered as a hardworking father with a laid-back nature who found joy in the outdoors and the simple things in life. His peaceful presence and quiet strength left a lasting impression on those who knew and loved him.
