Sue Dodson

Sue C Dodson, our mom, grandma and great grandma, lovingly known as Grandma Great came bouncing into the world on January 25, 1941 and leapt joyfully into the arms of Jesus on August 27, 2018. Mom was a woman of deep faith and was ever amazed at God’s creation. Her favorite bible verse was Psalm 147:4-5 “He counts the stars and calls them by name. How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension!” Mom was spunky, witty and a bit stubborn. Being with family enjoying laughter was her joy. She was a strong woman and three time cancer survivor. At the tender age of 15 she married our dad Kenneth Dodson, at the time of his passing they had been married 60 years. She regretted dropping out of high school to marry. In 1977 she received her GED , she liked to muse she graduated the same year as her daughter. Mom worked various retail jobs until purchasing the dress store Mode O’ Day, which she called her “cup of tea”. She loved each and everyone of her customers seeing them as her dear friends. Years after closing her store she frequently spoke of her “ladies” with fondness telling funny stories in the way only she could tell. Mom and dad never missed a soccer game, wrestling match, band concert or any event of their Aztec grandchildren. Mom enjoyed talking of her grandchildren and great grands, never missing the opportunity to tell how many she had. Mom was preceded in death by our dad, her parents Archie and Ruth Cusenbary, sisters Bonnie Dodson, Pat Calvert and brother Mark Cusenbary. She is survived by her brother Phil Cusenbary, children Tammy Thomas, husband Dan, Bart Dodson, wife Janet, grandchildren Lynn Marie Luis, Ken Dodson, wife Ashley, Meagan Dodson, Emily Rhames, husband Brandon, Luke Dodson, Chayton Ruijesnaars, Silas Thomas, wife Tera, Eli Thomas, wife Crissy, Levi Thomas and great grandchildren, Johnny Luis, Brooklyn Luis, Tyler Luis, Noah Thomas, Jude Thomas, Elias Thomas, August Thomas, Mason Thomas and one due in October. Moms Memorial Celebration will be held at Flora Vista First Baptist Church September 29th at 11:00.
