It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Timothy Scott Ontiveros, who left us far too soon on June 1, 2025, at the age of 32. Timothy was born on August 28, 1992, in Monahans, Texas, to his loving parents Pamela Sonja Sanchez and Mark Ontiveros. He later made his home in Aztec, New Mexico. He was loved and admired by many, and his impact on those around him will never be forgotten.
Once moving to New Mexico Tim started working for Big O Tires in Aztec. He made lifelong friends and loved what he did but he always had an interest in being a first responder.
Tim served as a volunteer firefighter for the Aztec Fire Department in 2018. He then started his career in law enforcement with Farmington Police Department. Tim was with Bloomfield Police Department since December of 2024. Timothy was a dedicated police officer, committed to serving and protecting his community. His kindness and integrity left a lasting impression on the lives he touched. He took great pride in his work and strived to make the world a safer place for everyone.
Beyond his professional life, Timothy cherished his family and friends. Tim had two daughters whom he loved and cherished dearly, AvyAnna and GraceLynn. AvyAnna loved riding motorcycles with her dad, and Tim loved having her tag along. GraceLynn was a daddy’s girl and had him wrapped around her finger.
Tim had many hobbies, one of them being an amazing pool player, no one had a chance playing against him. He loved karaoke, dancing and having a good time. Last but not least he absolutely loved riding his motorcycle.
Timothy is preceded in death by his grandmother Carmen Sanchez, paternal grandparents Felis Vasquez and Francisco Ontiveros, uncles Sammy Sanchez and Manuel Ortega, aunt Luanna Oney, and cousin Daniel Whitehead.
He is survived by his mother Pamela Sanchez, father Mark Ontiveros, step father George Vogel, grandfather Manuel Sanchez, Christina, children AvyAnna, Drake, Jonathan, and GraceLynn, sister Sierra Sanchez, sister in law Melissa, step sister Heather Vogel, brother Joseph Venzor, step brothers Jeb Vogel, Jacobie Vogel, and Dustin Vogel, nephew Kieren Sanchez, aunts Terry Whitehead and husband Carl, Lorena Chavez and husband Jeff, Linda Wafer and husband Lorenzo, Endora Chavez and husband Victor, Maria Carrasco, Ramona Martinez, uncle Tony Martinez and wife Margie, and Frank Ontiveros Jr.
Pallbearers are Sergeant Michael Wells, Sergeant TJ Brown, Sergeant Christian Waltermire, Officer Dylan Weaver, Officer Justin Lynch, Officer AJ Peterson, Officer Chase McDonald, and Detective David Gonzales.
Honorary Pallbearers are Kieren Sanchez, Chief Phillip Francisco, Deputy Chief Randon Matthews, Lieutenant Craig Barker, Lieutenant Caleb Coate, Sergeant Jacob Swenk, Officer Dylan Faverino, Officer Francis Yazzie, Detective Justen Darby, Officer Andy Darby, Officer Ken Adair, Officer Dorenda Chee, Community Service Officer, Cliff Young, Community Service Officer Travis Peterson, Police Assistant Ruth Montoya, Police Assistant Tonya Birch, and Police Assitant Bethany Davis.
A funeral procession will be leaving Farmington Funeral Home at 7:00 AM on Monday June 9, 2025, to escort Officer Ontiveros to Bloomfield High School where his service will be held.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM at Bloomfield High School, 520 N 1st Street Bloomfield, NM. A viewing for first responders only will take place at 1:00 PM at Farmington Funeral Home. A public viewing will be held at 3:00 PM at Farmington Funeral Home.
Timothy’s legacy will live on in our hearts. As we remember him, let us hold on to the joy he brought to our lives and the protector he was for all.
