Virginia Lee Murray, 90, of Farmington, NM passed away on April 30, 2026. Born in Centralia, Kansas Virginia was the oldest of three children born to Dale and Agnes Murdock. Her family moved often during her childhood. Throughout her high school years Virginia showcased her athletic talents by lettering in basketball and volleyball. She graduated from Summerfield High School in Summerfield, Kansas, in 1953. Shortly after graduation, Virginia married Glen Murray, and together they raised five children.
Virginia pursued a career in medical technology, graduating from Northwest Institute Medical Technology in December 1957. She earned certification from the Missouri State Society of the American Medical Technologist and dedicated many years to a career as a lab technician and supervisor.After moving to Farmington, Virginia expanded her professional skills by obtaining licenses as a Private Investigator and Polygraph examiner. She worked at Four Corners Security before becoming the owner and operator of several businesses, including Four Corners Alarm & Patrol, Four Corners Security, Four Corners Towing, KB Cab Company, an Armored Car Service, Advance Communications, and for a short time, the Bargain Thrift Store. She remained active and hardworking well into her later years, retiring at the remarkable age of 85.Virginia will be remembered as a strong and determined woman with a big heart. She was caring, loving and deeply loyal to those she loved. Virginia’s faith was a central part of her life. She loved Jesus deeply. Her legacy of hard work, perseverance, and devotion to those she loved will live on in all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents Dale Dauster and Agnes Marie Murdock, brothers Loren Dale Murdock and Dennis C. Murdock, and grandchildren Dani McGehee, Jared Kennedy and Dawn Derwin.
Virginia is survived by her sons Douglas E. Murray (Waunita); Dale L. Murray (Lee Ann) and Darrel W. Murray (Roni), daughters Doniese R. Roberts (Dean); Dana M. McGehee (John) and stepdaughter Tammy Sutherland-Abbott (Travis), and grandchildren Deanna Murray, Daniel Murray, Andy Murray, Scott Murray, Dustin Murray, Jessica Walling, Darrin Roberts, Devin Murray, Dasha Murray, Dray Murray, Dakota Murray, Delaney McGehee, Donovan McGehee, Amanda Sutherland and Tyler Sutherland, as well 24 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at 9:30am on Friday May 8, 2026, at Farmington Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 10:00am officiated by Dean Roberts. Burial will be held at 11:30am at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Dustin Murray, Andy Murray, Devin Murray, Darrin Roberts, Dale Murray Jr., and Travis Abbott.
Honorary Pallbearers are Daniel Murray, Scott Murray, Dakota Murray, Dray Murray, Donovan McGehee, Drew Murray, and Tyler Sutherland.
