Virginia Darlene (Phelps) Schlueter, 97, of Bloomfield, New Mexico, passed away on March 31, 2026, in Farmington, New Mexico. Virginia was born on April 20, 1928, in Sidney, Nebraska, to parents Elmer Henry Phelps and Malinda Laaker.
Virginia attended Sidney High School where she was the main baker later in life, she was also employed by Weapons Depot in Sidney, Nebraska, later working as a bookkeeper for SJRMC and Eddie Lu’s. Virginia had a love for gardening, she especially loved roses, Peony’s and especially her Peach trees. She also loved fishing, canning, and preserving.
Virginia is preceded by her husband Adolf Conrad Schlueter, daughter Joan Huntsman, parents Elmer Phelps and Malinda (Laaker) Phelps, sisters Marie Humphrey and Bonnie Lewis, and grandson Justin Carl Schlueter.
Virginia is survived by her sons Randall (Darlene) Schlueter, Harold (Bliss) Schlueter, daughters Shirley (Joe) Shelby, Donna (Carl) Rhames, Debbie (John) Mobley, and Janet (Buddy) Hopkins, sisters Yvonne Hoffman, and Marj Nikont, 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
