Wallace (Wally) Alvin Young passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, in Farmington, NM. He entered the beloved arms of Jesus with his children at his bedside.

Wally was born on June 20, 1947, in Mesa, Arizona, to Joe and Ramal Young. The family later moved to Farmington, where Joe worked as a supervisor for the City of Farmington Power Plant and Ramal as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell.

A proud 1965 graduate of Farmington High School, Wally lettered in both football and baseball. He went on to attend Dixie Junior College in St. George, Utah. In 1967, he married Anita Clark, and with the exception of three oilfield-related moves, Farmington remained his forever home.

Wally was an excellent salesman—he often said he could “sell ice to an Eskimo.” His sales career began at Mid-Continent Supply and later continued at Bovaird Supply. In 1981, he became the owner and operator of Tommy’s Drill Collar Inspection Service.

A devoted Denver Broncos fan, Wally enjoyed watching a wide variety of sports, playing golf, betting on the horses at the casino with his son, and spending time with his daughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ramal Young; his wife, Valerie Kelch Young; and his brother, Joe (Jody) Young.

Wally is survived by his children, Charles Young (Denise), Dani Montoya (Frank), and Traci Shelby (Steve); seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his stepchildren, Claude and Starla McKenzie, and Lacey Burge.

A celebration of Wally’s life will be planned in the near future.
