William David
Jordan
Mar 11, 1955 — Jul 3, 2026
William David Jordan, age 71, shed the shackles of his physical disabilities at the gates of Heaven July 3, 2026. He passed peacefully at home in Farmington, NM, with wife Karen at his side.
Dave was a longtime resident of Dallas and Flower Mound, Texas; Tucson, Arizona; and Farmington, NM.
Born March 11, 1955, at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, to William Dallas Jordan and Eunice Clark Jordan, Dave graduated from Crestview (Florida) High School and DeVry University, which he attended in Atlanta and Dallas. Dave's fascination with and expertise in electronics began early in life by observing his father's work and hobbies.
Dave was a longtime employee of Texas Instruments in Dallas and Lewisville, Texas, when Raytheon absorbed his TI division. He and his family relocated with the company to Tucson in 1999, where he was promoted to electrical engineer.
With daughter Lauren graduating high school in 2009 and soon going off to college, he volunteered to relocate to Raytheon's Dine manufacturing site on the Navajo Reservation near Farmington so he and wife Karen could enjoy the four seasons and nearby mountains, rivers and national parks of the Four Corners states.
He had also worked stints in Yuma, Ariz., and across California when the company needed him there. Business trips took him everywhere from Missouri to Mexico, Newfoundland, England, Scotland and Italy. He had to retire in 2019 after 43 years because of escalating disabilities from a long-ago motorcycle accident.
Because his father was a member of the U.S. Air Force, Dave moved frequently as a child, from North Texas to San Antonio (several times), Alabama, Northwest Florida, California and North Dakota.
Dave was an active member, Sunday school teacher, song leader and camp counselor in the Churches of Christ wherever he lived, and he was a board member for Leadership Training for Christ long after his daughter went off to college. He met his wife Karen Arrington at Prestoncrest Church of Christ in Dallas, and they married at Preston Road CofC May 8, 1982.
Dave juggled many hobbies, from Ham radio, to guitar and mandolin, to any and everything electronic and remote-controlled. Dave relished most music genres, from bluegrass to country, jazz, classical, rock, soul, gospel and Sacred Harp. He played, coached and umpired softball and baseball, and he was a den dad for the Girl Scouts and helped out with the Boy Scouts.
He spent many hours and days riding his motorcycle locally and across the country, as well as his ATV anywhere it was permitted (and sometimes where it wasn't). After surviving a broken neck and other life-threatening injuries in 2005, Dave never took one breath for granted.
Karen considered Dave an expert in woodworking, as well as church history, the Civil War, and the exploration and settlement of the American West. He built many of his possessions, including his first bicycle, and he could repair just about anything in the house and garage for his grateful family. And, oh, could he cook and bake! When Karen wasn't watching news or sports on TV, Dave was surfing all the food channels.
Dave was fortunate to have visited all 50 states. He loved to travel with his wife and daughter, encouraging their interest in photography, and making sure they enjoyed his passion for camping, scuba diving (Australia, Bahamas, Cozumel, Key Largo, springs in Florida, and lakes in Texas and Oklahoma) and snow skiing across the American West.
He also was a good sport to Karen's attraction to unpaved roads (often not on any map), cemeteries, college football, and movies. He became a devoted Texas A&M fan because of her.
He was preceded in death by his father Bill Jordan in 1982; our unborn child in 1988; father-in-law Matt Arrington in 1998; brother-in-law Mark Arrington in 2015; sister Hazel Virginia Espey in 2020; mother-in-law Laura Arrington in 2020; and many beloved aunts and uncles.
Dave is survived by Karen, his wife of 44 years; daughter Lauren Jordan and her husband David Robles of Los Angeles; mother Eunice Jordan of Tenino, Wash; brother Chester Jordan and sister-in-law Janet Highlands of Boise, Idaho; brother-in-law Thomas Espey Sr. of Tenino; brother-in-law Ronald Arrington of Houston; and other dear relatives, including cousin Gordon Clark, and close friends.
No public service is planned for now. He requested his ashes be scattered on the Mogollon Rim in Arizona. Oh, did he love the view!
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are encouraged to New Mexico Christian Children's Home in Portales, or any children's home where many await permanent homes; Grace Place in Farmington; or your favorite animal shelter or rescue.

Son, your work on earth is done
Go to Heaven a-shoutin'
Love for the Father and the Son..."
