William T. "Dub" Smith, age 88, of Farmington, New Mexico passed away May 10, 2023, in Farmington, New Mexico.
Dub was born September 5, 1934, in Dickens, Texas. He was the son of Otis Cromwell Smith and Anna Belle Flippen Smith. Dub was proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a man's man, a true cowboy who grew up around ranching and learned to love it at a young age. His true passion was team roping. He was a heeler and roped until he was 76. Mr. Smith graduated from Farmington High school in 1951. He worked for El Paso Natural Gas company for 30 years until his retirement in 1988.
Dub was preceded in death by his father Otis Cromwell Smith and his mother Anna Belle Smith, his brother Lee Smith, his sisters Jo, Jackie and Werdna Smith. Dub is survived by his wife Mary Shepard Smith of Farmington; his son Brad Smith (Ruth) of Frost Free, Florida and daughter Kim (Glen) Cook of League City, TX and survived by grandchildren Brett Smith of Houston, TX, Paige Cook of Big League City, TX, Emily Cook of Houston, TX, Chase Coutrado of Houston, TX, and Chase Cook of Houston, TX.
Visitation will be Monday May 15, 2023, at 12:30pm until 1:30pm at Farmington Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery at 2:00pm. Services will be officiated by Bear Blakley.
Bearers will be Dillon Blakley, Aidan Buoy, Baric Crum, Kenny Smith, John Hatch, and Walter Shepard.
