William Duane Winn passed away on April 12, 2026, at the age of 92. He was a resident of Farmington, NM and passed away at Three Rivers Estates in Farmington, NM. Duane was born on July 13, 1933, in Ogden, Utah to Rosco Daniel Winn and Neta Knight Winn.
Duane served in the Navy during the Korean War.
Duane graduated from BYU in 1957, with a degree in accounting. He married his beautiful wife Cleona Jones Winn on January 25th, 1957. After graduating he moved to Gallup, NM and worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs for 25 years. After retiring he couldn’t just sit at home, he worked a couple of jobs until he got a job with the Navajo Mine Credit Union and then worked for 5 years for the City of Farmington.
He loved playing golf almost every day. He also loved racquetball. After his wife (Cleona) passed away in 1988 he took up square dancing. He loved to dance.
Duane was very active in the Boy Scouts of America for 25 years. He went on many hikes and campouts with the scouts. Both of his sons were Eagle Scouts as were all 8 of his grandsons.
Duane served in the Navy from 1952-1956, was stationed on the USS Oriskany. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Duane was preceded in death by his wife Emily Cleona Jones Winn and son Ross Duane Winn, Parents: Rosco Daniel Winn, Neta Knight Winn. Sister: Sharon Bowler, Brother: Dean Winn.
Duane is Survived by his 3 children: Margo J Doolin (Ralph), Connie Winn and Darin T. Winn; Grandchildren: Corey (Alexa) Doolin, Jason Doolin, Adam (Natalia) Doolin, Jeremy (Natasha) Doolin. Zac Hewett, Casey (Michelle) Collyer, Crista (Dustin) Aikens, Austin Winn, Katelyn Winn and Bryan (Annie) Winn, and 11 great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 1310 E 25th St, Farmington, NM 87401. Burial will follow services at Kirtland Fruitland Cemetery. The family invites you back to the church after burial for a luncheon.
Serving as pallbearers are Corey Doolin, Jason Doolin, Adam Doolin, Jeremy Doolin, Zac Hewett, Casey Collyer, Austin Winn, Bryan Winn.
