William "Buddy" Sumner

William “Buddy” Wayne Sumner, 69, of Navajo Dam, New Mexico passed away on October 7, 2021. William was born on August 21, 1952, to parents Willard “Jake” & Verla Sumner.

William “Buddy” attended Aztec Schools where he met the love of his life, Alice Clow.

William later joined the Army in his Senior year and was deployed to the Korea conflict for its entirety. He was Honorably discharged in September 1975. During that time, he managed to marry the love of his life and have 2 children. One more would follow in 1977. By 1983, he spent his time with his family, hunting, fishing, camping, and working on cars. Every chance he had was spent at Aztec High supporting his nephews and “buddies” on the wrestling mats or at the field. He first became a poppa in 1994 and now has 10 beloved grandchildren. Great grandchildren started to arrive in 2015, and before he knew it, he had 8 of them.

While on this earth he taught us all to do the best we can with the hand we were dealt.

William is preceded in death by his Wife Alice Sumner, parents Jake and Verla Sumner, brothers Willard Sumner Jr and John Sumner, grandparents John and Annabell Sumner (Aztec), and Mitchel and Julia Martin (Aztec).

William is survived by Daughters Anna (Danny) Waldron and Jennifer (Micheal) Waldron, son Shane Sumner, nephew Jake Sumner & countless loved ones that considered him Uncle Buddy, grandchildren William, Adrian (Brandon), Brittnie, Julia (Kyler), Cyle, Ashley (Micheal), Jacob, Alec, Patience and Colista, great grandchildren Trace, Brantley, Azariyah, Kota Rae, Lane, Addalyn, Cooper and Zakiyah.

William was also Poppa to: Madalyn, Emily, Daniel, Miles, Oaklyn and Leeland.

Funeral Services will be held at a later time. Farmington Funeral Home is assisting with Funeral Services.
