Eugene Dixon

February 4, 1930 ~ December 22, 2020 (age 90)

Eugene Dixon, of Flora Vista New Mexico, born February 4th, 1930, to Bruce and Betty Dixon was united with his Savior on December 18th, 2020.
Eugene was lucky enough to meet his soul mate, Laura Pearl Templeton, and they married in 1951. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Valentine’s day 2021. Eugene was a proud veteran and served in both the Airforce and the Navy. He became a master cabinet maker and wood worker and was a genius when it came to visualizing and creating beautiful things. Eugene could always find a way to make people laugh, especially Laura when she was irritated with him. Laura said that Eugene would always have to have a kiss goodnight. If they were having a disagreement and if it was his fault, he would tell Laura, “All right, I’ll forgive you this time.” Laura would laugh and Eugene would get his goodnight kiss.
Eugene is preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother Richard Dixon, his nephew Lonnie Dench, and his son-n-law Steven Chavez.
He is survived by his wife and love of his life, Laura Dixon, his sister Gloria, and his sister Joyce Dench. He is also survived by: His daughter Gloria Chavez and Norman Harmon, and grandkids, Jennifer and Buddy Johns, Joleen and Paul Vigil, and Clayton and Candy DeWees; his daughter Donna Peace, and grandkids Leslie Lunsford and Les Lunsford; his son Garry and Lilly Dixon and grandkids Robin and Pete Lenhardt, and Deborah Griego and Sean Farmer; and his son Eric and Michelle Dixon and grandkids Eric and Kelsie Dixon, Garry and Chelsie Dixon, Dexter Dixon, Elijah Dixon, and Joseph Dixon.
Eugene was blessed with many great grandkids: Justin Johns, Lauren Johns, Christoval and Daniela Martinez, Elizabeth Vigil, Paul Vigil, Shania Smith, Ethan DeWees, Taylor Lunsford, Lacie Sweat Lunsford, Tyler Lunsford, Cameron Lunsford, Petey Lunsford, Tyler Blaylock, Peter Lenhardt, Luke Lenhardt, Marlee Wood, Julius Dixon, Lilly Rudder, Sunni Pearl Dixon, Hayzlynn Thompson, Van Dixon, Lynkynn Dixon, Harlow Dixon, and Jaxton Dixon. Eugene’s great-great grandchildren are: Ella Johns, Brylie Shortnancy, Angela Martinez, Dakota Smith, Ashton Lunsford, Lennox Lunsford, and Nikolaus Lunsford. Eugene was also blessed with many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
God saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him and whispered, “Come with me.” With tear-filled eyes we watched his suffering fade away. Although we loved him deeply, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
