Kenneth W. Shields, 71, passed away on November 12, 2021 at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, New Mexico from complications of Covid.
Ken received his Diploma from Highland High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1968, afterwards graduating from the University of New Mexico in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
Ken became a Federal Agent when he started to work for the Internal Revenue Service in Washington in August of 1973.
Ken was transferred to the Farmington New Mexico Internal Revenue Service office in 1978 until leaving in 1984 to work for Britton Smith Accounting. While working for Britton Smith, he obtained his C.P.A. Certificate in 1986. Ken opened his business Ken Shields, C.P.A. in 1986 working 35 years until his death in 2021.
Kenneth met Diane Shields in October 1979 in Farmington while Diane was working for U.S.F.&G. Insurance Company and got married on July 4, 1980. To this marriage was born Williams C. Shields and Michael W. Shields.
Ken loved his family and worked very hard for them.
Ken cared greatly for Farmington and was interested in the community, becoming a City Councilor for 2 years, was planning and zoning commissioner for 25 years, a member of the Farmington Rotary Club, helped found the River Reach Foundation, and met many lifelong friends while serving the community.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Lorn M. Shields and Ethel L. Shields and Grandparents.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Diane Shields, his son's William C. Shields and Michael W. Shields, his brothers Lorn D. (Roberta Remy) Shields and Ronald G. (Georgie) Shields, and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a Memorial Service on December 10th from 6-8 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Chapel 1310 25th St. E, Farmington, New Mexico.
A private family graveside service has taken place.
