Elizabeth M. Lucero, 93 a long-time resident of Durango, Colorado passed away peacefully with family at her side, on May 15, 2021. Elizabeth was born February 16, 1928 in Tiffany, Colorado to Alfredo and Beatrice (Abeyta) Garcia. Elizabeth was the 3rd of 14 children.
Preceded in death by son Teddy Lucero and husband Benjamin Lucero. Parents, Alfredo & Beatrice Garcia, Brother Mike Garcia and sisters, Matilde Gallegos, Thelma Valles, Dora Miera & Donelia Ambos.
Elizabeth worked in the restaurant industry as a waitress and cook until retirement at the age of 75.
Elizabeth married Ben Lucero in 1951, together the raised 9 children. Earlene Olguin (Leo), Loretta Romero (Robert), Barbara Garcia (Lorence), Becky Padilla (Joey), Leroy Lucero, Leonard Lucero (Carrie), Ben Lucero and Orlando Lucero.
Elizabeth has 23 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren.
Elizabeth will be remembered for her lemon meringue pies and chile beans that she cooked and brought to Sacred Heart Bingos she was also known for her Natillas that she cooked at Francisco's and for family gatherings.
Services will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Durango, Colorado on Wednesday, May 26th. Rosary at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am.
