Richard Brossard

Richard Mervil Brossard, 78 of Bloomfield, passed away on May 21, 2021. He was born April 21, 1943 in Walsenburg, CO. to Lyle and Georgetta Brossard.He proudly served in the United States Navy.

Richard grew up in Luna, N.M. He started working in his gran dads saw mill at 15 years old. He joined the Navy at 17 where he crossed the Equator twice, visited Japan, Hawaii and Mardi Gra twice in New Orleans. He was honorably discharged and began his life in Cortez, C.O.

Richard had a gift of being able to come up with an idea and build it. He worked as a mechanic, welder, truck driver, well driller as well as a business owner. Welding was his passion. After retiring from welding Richard returned to school for his CDL. He and his wife, Cena drove trucks and traveled the country visiting 48 states with the baby dogs. When truck driving no longer suited him, he and Cena became snowbirds. Spending winters in Lake Havasu, California, and summers wherever they wanted. While in California, he built a boat and sold ice cream on Lake Havasu. California was also where Richard & Cena's small business Tuff Tighteners began. In his later years, Richard & Cena settled in Bloomfield, N.M.

He enjoyed spending time with Cena and their dogs and working around their property. Richard's favorite saying was "Life's an Adventure".

Richard was preceded in death by his son Richard Earl Brossard; parents Lyle m. & Georgetta Brossard and brother Frank George (Mickey) Brossard. He is survived by his loving wife Francena (Cena) Brossard; daughter Michelle (Paul) Matney; mother-in-law Bonnie Chivers; granddaughters Amanda (Andrew) Archer and Delanie Matney; great-grandchildren Riley Dollar and Hannah Dollar.
There will be a viewing Friday, May 28th from 6-8pm at Farmington Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, May 29th at 10:37am at the Bloomfield Cemetery. Following the graveside service the will be a reception at 5 Road 4865 at Royo & Gwen Wilson's Home.
